If you are anything like me, you tend to want to argue your
point, especially when you know you are correct or when you feel that you are
being misunderstood or misinterpreted. One
thing I have learned is that when you stand on Biblical principles and maintain
your integrity, God will vindicate you, so you do not need to debate or prove
your point.
As a young, 18-year-old college freshman, I was highly
involved in several campus ministries and genuinely committed to living a
lifestyle of someone in pursuit of Christ.
One day, someone whom I considered a friend, told me that she thought I
was a fake Christian, just like some other “Christians” on campus. Even
though this hurt me, I did not choose to argue with her. I took this to God, prayed and continued to be
who I was and go on about my college journey.
A few weeks later, this same individual came to me and apologized. She said that she had been watching me and
that she was wrong; I was not like the other “Christians” she saw on campus
being fake and she had misjudged me.
This incident has stuck with me over the years because it showed me that I did
not need to try and prove anything. I
just stayed calm, remained who I was and “The LORD Himself” fought for me and the
truth prevailed.
The next time that someone questions your character or intentions,
remain calm and leave it in God’s hands.
You will see how God moves on your behalf and how His truth will be revealed. Not only will He vindicate you, but He will
get the glory and people will be pointed back to Him.
